My family has a vegetable garden in our backyard and we are trying to grow the plants without any chemicals etc. We think there are moles digging in the garden…is there anything we can do that is natural?

I have small leeches and have noticed tiny reddish worms in the filter box of my water garden. What are they and How can I get rid of them? We have several really nice fish and trapdoor snails that I don’t want to accidently kill. Anyone know what I should do?

My mom is ill and I want her to have a nice place she can go and sit outside in her backyard – I want to make her a garden with a fountain – but where do I start?? What resources are there to making your own garden – I also thought about putting in a pond… (also there are only rocks in the backyard now)

thanks!!
what is the exposure of your back yard? We have 1 large tree over the area I would put her space – it is in the corner of the yard with a wooden fence on each side.

do you have any shade trees? one

and what climate zone do you live in? We are in Northern California

Does your mom enjoy gardening, or is this just to be a place for her to sit and enjoy? Since she is disabled and she has never done gardening – this will just be a pretty place she can sit outside and enjoy.

I hope this helps more!

Thanks!!
oh – and they are small gray gravel rocks

For the last few years I have been plagued by bindweed in my perennial garden. I’ve tried bindweed mites from an extension service, pulling the vines, and someone suggested cutting them with scissors. Nothing seems to work. I’m trying not to use chemical weed killers in my yard but am getting desperate!

I do a lot of wood working and generate a lot of sawdust. I almost remember hearing something awhile back about adding it to your garden. Is there any benefit for the garden, nutrients or weed control?

This year has probably been the worst yet, the tomoatos are destroyed, I haven’t been able to get any peppers and only a handful of snap peas, they haven’t gotten to all the corn yet. I know it’s the deer, I have a scarecrow out and I have cans on twine surrounding most of the garden but nothing is working! I need help!

My ponies are aloud to walk around part of the yard / garden . I have clipped some elder bushes which are very pretty and the ponies never touch. I would like to have some tubs of flowers either perennials or annuals that are not poisonous and the ponies would not want to eat .

They get in the garden and pull up the shoots that have sprouted up. Have the shoots all over the place and they have eaten the seeds.

We’re planting our usual veggie garden this week (last week in March). We do the usual tomatoes, bell peppers, carrots, squash etc. but I would like to grow something different this year. Any ideas? Also, any recommendations on growing blueberries?

I live on a Caribbean island. I’d like to put in a cut flower garden so I can do flower arrangements. Right now I have a lot of bird of paradise flowers, but I’m looking for some variety. I’d like to order some seeds from the US, and pick up whatever I can find locally. But I’m not sure what holds over well in a vase.
Know of any sites or forums on gardening in the tropics?
