I just got a community garden plot. I have until next spring to get it all cleaned up for planting. The problem is, it was abandoned all year and is completely covered in weeds. It’s pretty much a big patch of tall grass. (the plot is 20′x20′) What’s the best way to get rid of it all, including the roots, so that it won’t grow back later? I’m not allowed to use any chemicals so it needs to be an organic solution.

Any other tips on having a successful vegetable garden would be appreciated too!

I bought a small fountain and I have 3 plants in it with 3 tad poles and 2 fish. I have a Pix if want to send me a message. I am worried that the water is not good water for my fish. My Fiance thinks that the plants are too much dirt for a small fountain or my water garden is needing an oxygen pump to keep the Fish alive. My mom has a similar larger scale water garden with a Fountain, plants and fish the only difference is she has well water and her watergarden is much larger than mine. So do I need an oxygen pump plus my fountain? Should I take the plants out? Or do you think I need to buy bottled water to put in my fountain; or atleast buy the chemical that takes the floride and chlorine out of the water?
Just put plants and fish in my tank last night. Came home from work today my trickler got clogged up with dirt from my plants and somehow my water was dripping out. It wasn’t empty when I got home today but the water level was low. And guess what? I killed 2 tad poles and 2 fish. Maybe I should just stick to plants I can keep them alive. Then I don’t have to be responsible for anything elses death. Wish I could post a pix here, there is one on my 360 page if you want to see what I am working with.

I have 4 raised beds and I want to collect rain water from the roof’s drain pipe so I can conserve water and use that for my garden. Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be done. I’m thinking about buying a big barrel and putting it under the roof’s gutter pipe to collect the water but whatelse can I do and how can I get the water from the barrel to the garden? by the way what kind of barrel do i need? I live in a neighborhood so it has to look good or neighbors won’t like it. Thank you all.

Ok me and my husband has the option to buy a house from family for about 8 thousand dollers. The home has to be totally remodeled and we can not get a loan to fix it up do to bad credit. Out other option is to rent for ever spending a little over 7200 hundred a year on a home that will never be ours. What would you do? Give me lots of options here I am having a hard time deciding on this.

I’m moving into a new apartment and would like to pull together a light Japanese theme around mostly contemporary styles. I’ve looked around online and can’t find anything which might provide what I’m looking for.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look for this type of home decoration?
Ikea has nice furniture and while I’ve already selected my bed from there, there isn’t much in the way of Japanese styles. Also, I’m not on the West Coast so that does me little good.

[i'm not planning to consult a proffessional for that purpose].
how about the idea of planting medicinal plants in the pot.

I am thinking of building a new home but I’m having trouble finding a nice lot. I am considering buying a home just for the land, then demolishing and building a new home, which saves the aggrevation of developing the land. I was told there are some requirements because the mortgage company would not allow you to demo a house that they own (until its paid in full). Has anyone gone through this process if so How do I go about this. What do I have to let the mortgage company know? Do I need permits prior to buying the home, Things like that.

I have a large garden and need to water often. We are in the grip of the worst drought on record.
My pump works at 55 psi and has 200 gal per min output , I think it can handle 6 sprinklers at once.
