I’m helping to put together a small memorial garden at my work. We’ve already got a bench and a birdbath, and are going to put in a couple small planters, but don’t know what kind of plants to put in. They should be low maintenance, and should stay green during the Scottish winter. Flowers in the summer would be nice too. The area gets lots of sunshine…when the sun is out. Any suggestions?
I just got one…prepped the garden space and rolled it out. I have kept it watered but, living in Florida the sun can dry it out fairly quickly. I was wondering how long it took for the blooms to start growing for someone else who has used the roll n grow successfully.
I’d like to plant a vegetable garden. I have a nice backyard with good soil. Problem is, there is not a whole lot of sun back there. The sun is partially blocked by trees. There is some sun, and at certain times of the day its pretty good, but on the whole its not ideal.
Are there certain things I can plant that will not require full sun all the time?
We are trying to spruce up our lawn a bit because it looks terrible. i want to just buy some plants and install them in the garden. What’s are some good plants to buy that won’t die on me terribly quickly?
I bought a plant for my garden but lost the stick that tells the type of plant it is. So I need to ID it so I can safely winterize it. It has broad deep redish purple leaves, and blooms small pink/purple flowers that don’t last long but leave little purple bumpy balls behind, at the base of the bloom. It grows quite tall, and reminds me of a rubber tree plant in nature…. I have searched the net, but that’s near impossible… any help or suggestions? It’s too beautiful and hearty to lose!!! I am on the Canadian West Coast if that helps with the type of plant I can purchase.
the garden was over run with these slime balls last year & i was wandering if there was somewhat of an easy way to get rid of them. iam getting chickens this year hoping that will help.
Someone out there has got to know and have more experience with this than I do. I’ve looked all over the net and keep coming up with the same answer. Yeah, I know, Koi. We’re kind of bored with the same old look though. We’d like to know what fish we can add to our fish/garden pond. Fish that can live outdoors and with Koi. Fish with color. Not plane old pond fish. Something with yellow would be great. Please Help!
I was thinking a raised garden bed with plastic sheet with holes punched in separating the soils. I would then add store bought soil and manure. Anyone got any other tips or sites i can check out? Cheers!
to rgdet, how about if i dug about 50 – 100 cm and replaced the soil in and at about a 40 cm perimeter around and then added the plastic sheeting and raised garden?
Ill look into containers now, i like the idea of plant bags !
She has requested I send her some exotic seeds for her garden. They are about the size of apple seeds. How do I send them? Is a regular envelope okay? I want to send around 10 seeds.
No they aren’t illegal lol. In the states.
I have a garden with assorted plants, like flowers and herbs and veggies. The problem is that I am also planting strawberries, but ants or some kind of bug can bite parts of it. Are there any ways in which I can prevent this?
