Is my recommendation for the best compact digital camera justified?

My children keep on growing and I felt that I was missing out recording the changes. So I found myself needing a new camera. I looked around, took some advice and thought I’d share the results of my endeavors with you. After looking around I came up with an excellent solution the Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS 12.1 MP Digital Camera. I was so happy with my purchase that I wanted to share my compact digital camera review.

Is your recommendation justified? That depends how much thought you put into it.
I am very happy that YOU are happy with your camera. Obviously for YOU this camera is great.
However, before you recommend it to EVERYBODY, you need to attempt to judge the person’s needs.
Some of us are more demanding and discerning than others. Some of us have much more experience and more particular requirements. The trick is to try and find a match for all those variables.
That little Elph is fantastic for someone who wants a toy sized camera, doesn’t really care about (or isn’t really able to SEE) its quality shortcomings, and never really wants to do anything but take little snapshots on Auto settings. I’m not at all suggesting that this is wrong….. not everybody on this planet needs to be a great photographer, it simply is one way of using a camera. We can’t all be passionate and/or expert about everything.
On the other hand, there are people who are more serious about this. Personally I would NOT want this camera because it only has 4x optical zoom, no view finder and has NO manual controls.
Without manual controls you are very VERY limited in what you can do, and very limited in how much you can learn from and grow with the camera. It also not possible to attach a decent external flash, so all you’ll ever have is that very inadequate little thing on the camera.
The shutter lag as well as the noise in low light situations would drive me nuts.
This little camera is far too basic for MY liking.
So……. enjoy it, you’re lucky you found something you really like. Recommend it to people who feel the way you do, but accept that for others, it will NOT be a good choice.
