I thought you were suppose to resize partitions from Windows to make sure Windows is not messed up?
OSGUIShow on June 7, 2010 at 2:08 am
@russjr08 yes the linux installer can do that very well

Thank you for the tutorial! :D I am thinking of making a dualboot with Ubuntu just to check it out but I don’t want to loose my whole Windows 7 installation. :P

is this Linux partitioning safe in terms of data on windows?
I have almost 140 GB free but windows partition will hardly give me 10 GB to shrink to.. so I was wondering if going ahead with this method would avoid this problem but at the same time not corrupt my data…

@OSGUIShow
but in terms of data on Windows, is Linux installer partitioning safe? Coz I tried shrinking my Windows drive where I have almost 140 GB free but windows only gives me an option for shrinking 10GB which I dont understand… hence to solve this problem I am thinking of going with this method as you show in the video but at the same time i cannot risk losing my data.. please advise

Hello Tim,
Well I took a dive and decided to dual boot our Windows 7 laptop with Ubuntu. I used the same options as you did and I could not boot into Windows (I wish you did boot into windows in your video just for curiosity sake) Anyhow its time to get out the windows recovery disk…..now where did I put that thing….hmm…
OSGUIShow on June 11, 2010 at 12:59 pm
@soctu with Windows 7 … when it tries to boot, it can go into a startup recovery mode and that should be able to fix it, without you needing to use the DVD
OSGUIShow on June 11, 2010 at 12:59 pm
@GWmackan check the BIOS
OSGUIShow on June 11, 2010 at 12:59 pm
